The MRC Vallée-de-la-Gatineau stands out

We are convinced that the 2023-2024 version will pique the curiosity of many potential tourists, vacationers and even residents of the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau.

Several choices were made to celebrate the uniqueness of the region of which we are so proud, starting with the front cover, which highlights a wild animal: the lynx. The lens of Jocelyn Galipeau, animal photographer, took 20 days before finally meeting the gaze of the animal, in the middle of the leaves and branches.

The passion with which Jocelyn Galipeau proceeds to his meticulous work in order to photograph the animals of our forests represents the territory well: hundreds of kilometers to travel, on beaten earth or not, to access racy gems, hidden secrets, smells typical and breathtaking landscapes, which make the region a quality space in which to explore.

« Avantagée par la nature »

There is no doubt that the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau is “Benefited by nature”. In 2021-2022, the MRC worked with the firm PIXEL to develop a new tourism brand image.

The new version of the Guide represents a golden opportunity to demonstrate the work that has been done, by highlighting the graphic elements and visual tools proposed, with the aim of standing out among the other regions of Quebec and even within of the Outaouais. As you flip through the guide, you will see that there are many “benefits” with us.

Updates for 2023-2024

With this desire and this objective to surpass itself for the 2023-2024 edition, the MRC Vallée-de-la-Gatineau has chosen to significantly rework its content in order to make the Guide an unrivaled reference in terms of tourist tool.

In the introduction, there is a list of the 2 towns, 15 municipalities and the 2 Algonquin communities, which are highlighted by listing their main attractions. This addition confirms the presence of a beautiful diversity within the territory and allows tourists to plan their trip according to their preferences.

Outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds will be served with useful information on activities to enjoy in the area: sections on the cycle path (the magnificent Véloroute des Draveurs), the many hiking trails, places to practice hunting and fishing as well as quad and snowmobile excursions have been developed to highlight the many possibilities of activities to practice during vacations in the Outaouais.

For the undecided or simply for the curious, the MRC team wanted to present a list of must-sees, which includes 12 proposals for activities or places to visit that reflect the spirit of the region. Once again, we can expect nature for all tastes, culture, history and future memorable moments when visiting the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau.

Be on the lookout for events taking place on the territory! With the help of our calendar of events, from page 30 to page 33, do not miss anything that might interest you. The annual activities have been listed: whether we are talking about festivals, public markets, sporting or cultural events, everything is there to soak up the swarming events here.

Another novelty for 2023-2024, the summer/winter tables of services offered by municipalities: libraries, soccer fields, outdoor skating rinks or other municipal activities or services, you can easily target your needs, interests and possibilities as a tourist.

Well detailed sections

The Guide is divided into 8 other sections: summer recreation and outdoor activities, winter pleasures, culture and heritage, local flavors, restaurants, lodging, hunting, fishing and outfitting, and useful information.

What the Tourist Guide team is particularly proud of this year is the standardization of information despite the abundance of content. Each well-stocked section presents information by municipality, from Low to Grand-Remous, that is to say from south to north. This decision was taken following the logic that the majority of tourists arrive via the southern entrance. An additional approach that will greatly accommodate visitors: the integration of two maps of the region, the first, a general map of the MRC presenting tourist attractions, hiking trails and rest stops on the bike path, and the second, a map detailed description of the Véloroute des Draveurs, to better plan your getaway.
