The history of the Municipality of Blue Sea dates back to 1909, when the Saint-Félix de Blue Sea parish was established and construction of the church began.
At the time, the area was still part of the Municipality of Gracefield. The municipality was incorporated on January 31, 1921, under the name Bouchette-Sud.
It was not until 1931 that it was renamed Blue Sea.
The municipality developed around the majestic lake of the same name, which helped make the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau a popular destination among cottagers from the Outaouais region and Eastern Ontario.
With its sea-like appearance and remarkably clear waters, Blue Sea Lake is located southeast of Lac des Cèdres.
The name “Lac Blue Sea” appeared as such on a 1928 map of Hull County. Measuring 10 km long and 3.4 km wide, with a surface area of 14 km², the lake feeds the Blue Sea River, which flows into the Picanoc River, a tributary of the Gatineau River.
