The Municipality of Denholm is located in the southeastern part of the La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau Regional County Municipality (RCM). The origins of its development between 1851 and 1861 are linked to the mining of asbestos, serpentine, and calcite.
Paugan Road leads to the Paugan Hydroelectric Generating Station dam, which was built between 1926 and 1928. The municipality is home to more than 50 lakes, and its western boundary follows the Gatineau River for approximately 15 kilometres. Committed to preserving the quality of its lakes, streams, and rivers, Denholm offers an exceptional natural environment.

Denholm is located approximately 40 kilometres north of Gatineau and about 70 kilometres southeast of Maniwaki. Its western boundary lies within traditional Algonquin territory, between the Tenagaten, meaning “the river that keeps rising and goes far,” now known as the Gatineau River, and the Waboz Sipi to the east, whose name refers to the hare and which is now known as the Lièvre River. The municipality is situated on the left slope of the St. Lawrence River watershed.
