The Municipality of Denholm is located in the southeastern part of the MRC de La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau. Its development, which began between 1851 and 1861, was closely linked to the mining of asbestos, serpentine and calcite.

Paugan Road leads to the dam of the Paugan Hydroelectric Generating Station, built between 1926 and 1928. The municipality is home to more than 50 lakes, while its western boundary follows the Gatineau River for approximately 15 kilometres. Committed to preserving the quality of its lakes, streams, and rivers, Denholm offers an exceptional natural environment.

Denholm is located approximately 40 kilometres north of Gatineau and about 70 kilometres south of Maniwaki. Its western boundary lies within traditional Algonquin territory, between the Tenagaten, meaning “the river that keeps rising and goes far,” now known as the Gatineau River, and the Waboz Sipi to the east, whose name refers to the hare and which is now known as the Lièvre River. The municipality is located on the left side of the St. Lawrence River watershed.
