In order to guard waterways against invasive alien species, maintain water quality and protect the many lakes and rivers in the territory (more than 3,200 in total), the MRC de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau and several municipalities decided to establish conveniently located boat washing stations.
There are more than 9 washing stations on the territory. Boaters are strongly advised to use them before their nautical activity when traveling from one body of water to another.
