Description
The Cousineau Bridge, built in 1932 during the economic crisis, is a Town elaborated covered bridge that spans 30 m across the Picanoc River. It can be reached via Ruisseau-des-Cerises Road. The bridge likely takes its name from the Cousineau family, whose farm is located north of the site.
Once very common, covered bridges are now rare: only eight remain in the Outaouais region, several of them in the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau. Their structures were covered to protect the wood from the elements, greatly extending their lifespan.
Repairs were carried out in September 2021, requiring a temporary closure. Three covered bridges from the 1930s still stand in the region: Savoyard, Cousineau, and Marois.
