Description
The Savoyard Bridge in Grand-Remous connects both shores of the Gatineau River. To get there, you must take Pont-Rouge Road. Named in honor of the family of pioneer Amable Savoyard, the covered bridge spans 103 meters over the “grand remous” of the Gatineau River. Built in 1931 in the Town elaborated style, it underwent major restoration work in the summer of 2011.
Nearby lookouts and interpretation panels about log driving allow visitors to admire the river and appreciate its history. It is one of the longest covered bridges in Québec. With its particularly photogenic setting, its red color creates a striking contrast with the surrounding forest.
The bridge has unfortunately been closed to automobile traffic since 2023.
