Standing 25 meters high and stretching 345 meters long, this massive structure led to the formation of the vast Baskatong Reservoir. It serves to regulate the flow of the Gatineau River and supplies water to the hydroelectric power stations at <a href=\"https:\/\/tourismevalleedelagatineau.com\/en\/service-companies\/centrale-paugan\/\"><strong>Paugan<\/strong><\/a>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Centrale_de_Chelsea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chelsea<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hydroquebec.com\/visites-installations\/visites-grand-public\/rapides-farmer-outaouais.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rapides-Farmers,<\/a><\/strong> which are still in operation today.<\/p>\n<p>Before the dam was built, Lake Baskatong was only about 5 miles long. Since its construction, nearly 800 miles of shoreline now surround the reservoir.
